We believe that love is most naturally shown when we sacrificially serve our local community. We seek to partner with organizations that are helping the most pressing physical & spiritual needs in our community.

A Bike for Every Child

The mission of A Bike for Every Child is to have our community come together to support our youth ride into happier, healthier futures! The vision of A Bike for Every Child is to transform lives, one bike at a time. We collect gently used bikes from the community, refurbish them, and give the bikes and new helmets to kids and adults in need.

A Safe Place

A Safe Place is an empowerment organization focusing on prevention, advocacy, and restoration to assist victims of commercial sexual exploitation and domestic minor sex trafficking that services the southeast region of North Carolina with the following programs: A toll-free, anonymous hotline, transitional housing, direct support services and our Outreach Center are available to any victim identified by A Safe Place, partner organizations or law enforcement.

Big Buddy – Cape Fear Volunteer Center

The Big Buddy program is a, one-on-one mentoring program that matches “at-risk” youth ages 5-16 in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender Counties with positive adult role models. Youth are identified as “at-risk” due to the following circumstances: involvement with the juvenile justice system, excessive in-school and out of school suspensions, poor academic performance, and lack of a positive role model.

Brigade Boys & Girls Club

With sites all across New Hanover and Pender counties, Brigade Boys and Girls Club serves over 1500 youth, ages 5-18, by offering quality after-school and summer programs. These programs provide a safe, positive and supervised environment for youth to learn and have fun.

Volunteers are needed for special events and especially for homework assistance on weekday afternoons.

Cape Fear Literacy Council

Illiteracy and low reading skills among adults have devastatingly widespread effects, not just in their personal lives, but in society, through poverty, crime, health, and unemployment, perpetuating a cycle for the next generation. The Cape Fear Literacy Council is working to provide literacy services to adults and their families in our region.

Ways to Serve

  • One-on-one tutoring and small classes for both Adult Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
  • Help students who seek to improve their reading,math, and language skills

Communities in Schools – Cape Fear Region

CISCF works in partnership with public schools to identify and connect students, many in jeopardy of dropping out, with the community resources they need to stay engaged in school. We offer programs in After School, Non-Traditional Learning, Teen Parenting and Dropout Prevention.

Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina

The Wilmington Branch of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves 4 counties in southeastern North Carolina including Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender. In these counties, more than 74,740 people live in food insecure households, almost a third of whom are children.

Embrace Grace

Our vision is for every girl with an unplanned pregnancy to have a church to go to for spiritual, emotional and physical support. Our mission is to inspire and equip the church to love on single and pregnant young women and their families.
We are a national non-profit organization formed for the purpose of providing emotional, practical and spiritual support for single, young women and their families who find themselves in an unintended pregnancy.

Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Ministries (GSM) serves those in need in our community in a variety of ways. Their mission is to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and foster transition to permanent housing. Both individuals and groups from PC3 volunteer at GSM. Hours of volunteering depend on the task.

Habitat for Humanity

Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity is a housing ministry dedicated to providing affordable housing to families in need in the Cape Fear region. Volunteer opportunities with Habitat include helping build the homes for these families. No experience is necessary, as Habitat provides the training, but you must be at least 16 years old to participate.

Ways to Serve

Interfaith Refuge Ministry

This ministry helps resettle refugee families from around the world, working to ensure that each refugee will receive basic initial support and seeking to provide a bridge for these individuals who now live in a strange new land.

  • Helping new arrivals become oriented with American culture (grocery shopping, finding jobs, etc.)

Matthew’s Ministry

Matthew’s Ministry is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food for children in need across Brunswick County. The food they provide is proving to be life-changing, through positive results such as greater nourishment, less behavior problems, higher test scores, and happier kids. Matthew’s Ministry also works alongside social workers who see a need for food when they visit homes with children.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a local nonprofit organization that provides nutritious meals and other nutrition services to men and women who are elderly, homebound, disabled, frail or at risk. These services significantly improve the quality of life and health of these individuals, and postpone early institutionalization.

PC3 helps support the weekend program that federal funding does not cover. And on the fourth Sunday each month, a team from PC3 prepares and delivers a hot lunch meal to approximately 170 elderly shut-ins in our community.

Nourish NC

With childhood hunger on the rise in our community, Nourish NC exists to strengthen community resources that connect hungry children to healthy food. Its Backpack Program provides weekend meals to over 200 children in New Hanover County who otherwise would not get a nutritious, well-balanced meal outside of school lunches. When a child suffers from lack of nutrition, it creates a ripple effect in the child’s life, classroom, and neighborhood community.

Nursing Homes

Residents in nursing homes and senior centers throughout our community could really benefit from volunteers who are willing to visit with them or help out with various activities.  These visits lift the spirits and enhance the quality of life for the elderly living all around us.

  • One-on-one visits (read to residents, visit with them)
  • Group visits (entertain with songs, host an activity)

Phoenix Hometown Hires is dedicated to assisting men and women in the Cape Fear area who are most in need of work. Through the efforts and commitment of our passionate board of directors, loyal volunteers, talented staff members, and partner organizations, Phoenix has aided more than 800 people in finding jobs with local businesses.

Saturday Meals & Vigilant Hope

Each Saturday PC3 volunteers partner with Vigilant Hope to help restore dignity of neighbors in need who are hungry and/or homeless. We travel to Lake Forest Baptist Church where we serve lunch at 12:00pm, eat lunch with those we serve and help with the shower trailer on site. It is a special ministry opportunity and a great way for families to serve together to empower & show love to some of the most vulnerable in our area.

Vigilant Hope is a modern missions organization with a desire to reach and serve those in need and to challenge you to do the same! We exist to educate and equip the Body of Christ to reach into the community with the hope of the gospel through urban outreach, relief ministry and educational programs.

W.A.R.M.

Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (W.A.R.M.) works to rebuild homes for the elderly and disabled, and families in need in our community. Both skilled and unskilled labor are needed. Opportunities are available on weekdays and weekends, for individuals and groups.

  • Help with various projects including: (basic home repairs, painting, cleanup, yard work, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work,, appliance installation, project preparation and demolition)
