Elementary School Students
What is Treasure Island
Treasure Island is Port City Community Church’s ministry for elementary-aged children. Here is everything you need to know about Treasure Island’s commitment to caring for and teaching your children. We’ve compiled a list of helpful details and tips so that you feel prepared and informed when interacting with our dedicated staff and volunteers.
What to Expect
It’s always comforting to know what to expect, especially when it comes to your children. Here is some information that should help you feel confident and comfortable as you drop your kids off at the service.
We want to reach kids where they are – which means we let them be kids. We create an exciting, respectful environment that combines an energetic worship team leading kids in songs they love; unforgettable illustrations, characters and activities to tell Bible stories that matter in their lives; and dedicated small group leaders who meet with students in smaller groups so they can experience community and feel heard.
First Time Guest
If you are a first time visitor please come to the front desk area of Treasure Island. Our Host Team will get some information from you, check your child in, and give you a quick tour of the Treasure Island environment. We look forward to having your child join us.
Contact During the Service
In the event that Treasure Island staff needs to contact a parent, the number (security code) on the ID tag will be displayed on the screen in the auditorium. Come to the entry point of the auditorium, and a staff member will escort you to your child. You will need an ID tag that matches the child’s in order to pick him or her up.
Safety is Essential
Security tags are provided for all volunteers, nametags are provided for all children, registration forms have any vital information, and check-in and check-out procedures are enforced. Also, screening for all Treasure Island volunteers includes a criminal background check, training, and interviews by TI staff.
Each child is given a nametag during check-in that has a computer generated security code printed on it, and the parent is given a pick up tag that matches. When picking up their child, the parent must present their pick up tag and the security code is matched. If a parent or child loses their tag during service, the parent must report to the front desk and submit needed identification before we will print a new tag. This policy is strictly enforced and no exceptions are made.
In the unlikely event that we need to evacuate the building because of a fire alarm, the kids will be escorted outside the building in a timely manner. We ask parents to follow the pick-up policy and meet us at the designated areas only. Please do not try to come directly into the Treasure Island environment.
Your children will be evacuated to the area outside of the Studio 3 entrance at the opposite end of the building from the Main Auditorium, and you can pick them up there. Following our security procedure, you must have your matching ID tag to pick up a child.
