Giving is a critical part of the Christian walk. We believe that God has given us everything we have, and that we are responsible for handling those gifts wisely and not giving into the lie that what we have “belongs” to us. In fact, God doesn’t ask us to give according to what is easy or comfortable, but according to how He leads us by faith. What God can do in and through our giving is a life-changing experience!

Why Do We Give
God wants our trust and this can be especially difficult when it comes to money and possessions. Instead, we tend to hold on tightly to our money, which shows us where our faith really lies – in ourselves and not God. Learning to give frees us from greed and self-sufficiency, giving us a chance to experience God’s faithfulness in a very real way.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10
What Is the Tithe
Simply, a “tithe” means a tenth part. Giving a tenth of your income to the church before you do anything else – what the Bible refers to as “first fruits” – is an important way to exercise your trust in God’s provision. Even if you can’t give 10% or more right away, we encourage you to take a step in trusting God by setting another percentage (from 1-9%) that you give each month. We try to make this process as convenient as possible so that you can give on Sundays during service, online, or set up a bank transfer as often as you’d like. Your tithe goes to support church operations and missions near and far.
General Fund – At Port City Community Church, we are one church with multiple locations. From the adult and children’s environments you see on Sundays to student ministries and adult programs throughout the week, the day to day operations of the church are funded by the General Fund. When you give your tithes and offerings to our General Fund, you not only fund the ministries at all of our locations, but you also contribute toward work being done in our city, region and world.
Leland Building Fund – The Leland Building Fund serves as a way to contribute toward the future building project for the Leland Campus. Gifts to the Leland Building Fund are encouraged to be above and beyond your tithe to the General Fund.
Spaces & Places – Gifts to Spaces & Places will be used toward future spaces and existing places of the church and are not restricted to a particular campus. Gifts to Spaces & Places are encouraged to be above and beyond your tithe to the General Fund.
Debt Retirement – The Debt Retirement fund serves as a way for those to contribute toward the debt the church holds on the Wilmington location. Gifts to the Debt Retirement fund are encouraged to be above and beyond your tithe to the General Fund.
